Holloway vs. Edgar : UFC 240: Holloway vs. Edgar is an upcoming mixed martial arts event produced by the Ultimate Fighting Championship that is planned to take place on July 27, 2019 at Rogers Place in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.
Golovkin’s majority decision defeat to ‘Canelo’ last September is the one mark on an otherwise (mostly) unblemished career record which has seen the man known as ‘GGG’ rise the ranks to pound-for-pound supremacy.
However, now shorn of his IBO, WBA Super, WBC middleweight titles since the defeat to Alvarez, 37-year-old Golovkin will look to bounce back into the win column against Rolls, the 19-0 Ontario native.
Rolls enters the bout with a significant experience disadvantage in comparison to Golovkin, one of the sport’s top names.
But the Canadian will be keen to present a difficult challenge to the former champion, particularly with the surprise result of last weekend’s heavyweight title fight between Anthony Joshua and Andy Ruiz Jr still fresh in the memory.
Golovkin vs Rolls will begin late Saturday/early Sunday from Madison Square Garden in New York City, with the first punches expected to be thrown at around 11 – 11.30pm local time (4 – 4.30am UK).
How to watch?
UK viewers will be able to watch the fight via Sky Sports Action while US fans can access the fight via the DAZN subscription streaming service. Viewers in different markets are advised to check their local listings.
Gennadiy Golovkin looks to bounce back against Steve Rolls on Saturday night after suffering his first-career defeat to Canelo Alvarez in September.
Golovkin (38-1-1, 34 KOs) fell to Alvarez on Sept. 18, 2018, on a majority decision after 12 rounds at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. He’ll look to get win No. 39 this Saturday against the Canadian Rolls (19-0, 10 KOs), who as a heavy betting underdog will look to channel Andy Ruiz Jr. and pull off an unthinkable upset.
Rolls last fought in December where he beat KeAndrae Leatherwood by unanimous decision to pick up his 19th victory. While Golovkin is hungry for a win, which likely will set up a third match against Alvarez, Rolls isn’t a pushover and should give him a formidable fight.
The fight between GGG and Rolls is not available on traditional pay-per-view via cable or satellite. Instead, fight fans will need to subscribe to DAZN and download the app in order to live stream the fight online.
Below is all the information you’ll need to watch the fight between GGG and Rolls on June 8.
The fight can be streamed by signing up for a subscription on DAZN, a global multi-sport streaming service that came to the United States in September. It is not available on pay-per-view. Golovkin signed a three-year, multimillion dollardeal with DAZN in March that will see him fight twice a year for the next three years.
The DAZN app can be downloaded on a plethora of internet-connected devices, including Roku, Apple TV, Google Chromecast, iOS, Android, Xbox One, Playstation 4 and Playstation 3. The fight can also be viewed on a computer desktop from Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer and Safari browsers
Just one week after Andy Ruiz Jr.’s incredible upset over Anthony Joshua at Madison Square Garden, New York, Steve Rolls will be looking to pull off an upset of his own in the historic venue when he takes on Gennady Golovkin in a 164-pound catchweight bout.
The stakes aren’t quite as high this time around at MSG. Unlike Joshua, Golovkin (38-1-1, 34 KOs) isn’t defending any titles, nor is his record perfect. Golovkin has Saul “Canelo” Alvarez to thank for that. After fighting to a draw in late 2017 in a world middleweight title clash, the two met in the ring again in September 2018. That time, Alvarez eked out a majority decision in a thrilling contest.
